Sugar Rush Creative attended the UK App Awards 2019 in London's Montcalm, Marble Arch. The highly regarded awards ceremony celebrates digital excellence and seeks to honour those doing epic things in the digital (namely app) world. Follow our journey to becoming a UK App Awards winner.
Boasting an exclusive venue, impressive judging panel and suave line-up of attendees, the UK App Awards has secured itself as a forerunner in the digital industry (yep, what the Golden Globes is to Hollywood, the UK App Awards is to us technology enthusiasts: it’s that major). The awards categories are so thorough that there’s undoubtedly a place for everyone; whether you're big, small, old, new, corporate, start-up (or something in between). So whether health and wellness is your thing, UX design is your speciality or educative platforms float your boat, you’re covered.
So let's cast your mind back to that judging panel (think Dragon’s Den… or The Great British Bake Off, whichever you’re into), when we say it’s impressive, we really mean it.
*Queue some serious career goals*.
If the Head of Digital Content for Formula 1 doesn’t do it for you, the Digital Marketing Director for Missguided just might (yes, we’re fan-girling too). Or maybe the CTO of Moonpig will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside (it’s sure to if you’re as fond of a witty, borderline-offensive birthday card as we are).
Once you’ve had time to recover from the ultra-cool judging committee (we can hear you breathing erratically into a brown paper bag, Home Alone 4 style) we can get onto the finalists. In our opinion, the best thing about the UK App Awards is the lack of ‘one-size-fits-all’ criteria; organisations and digital platforms from all walks of life are judged equally. And honestly, to be recognised alongside some awesome digital gamechangers (Wordup, Surfer’s Against Sewage and YoungPlanet App are some of our personal faves) is a real Sugar Rush Creative career peak.
So after some Maria Condo inspired organisation skills, our flights were booked, accommodation secured and James Bond suits assembled: time for “LONDON BABY”. (If you failed to pick up on this epic Friends quote, we grant you permission to click off this blog immediately). Attending the UK App Awards 2019 as a finalist in not one but two categories had us feeling all giddy and nervous (softened by the ultra-posh champagne reception and exquisite three-course meal, of course).
To top off what was an epic night (those guys know how to throw a party), Sugar Rush Creative picked up UK App Agency of the Year (Small) and highly commended in UK App of the Year, 2019. Yep, you heard that right… our little team from the Emerald Isle actually did it, and we’re still feeling pretty emosh about it if we’re honest.
We want to thank the UK App Awards, the entire judging panel, PBNI, the Sugar Rush team, our mums, our dads… ok you see where this is going. Without going into a full-scale Oscar’s acceptance speech (we’ll save that for our alone time in the shower), this is a pretty cool achievement for us and one we’re seriously proud of. Hugely exciting things are happening in the tech industry and we’re insanely proud to be a part of it. We’re more inspired than ever to continue to break boundaries and make an impact. Cheers to that.
